2. Fill the selected filter with fresh, fine ground espresso coffee.
Clean any excess coffee from the rim of the portafilter. This will
assure proper fit under the brew head.
ATTENTION: Tamp or compress coffee using the tamper (included)
as shown below. Do not overfill the filter. This might cause clogging
or overflow.
HOW TO PLACE THE PORTAFILTER
Position the portafilter underneath the brew head, position handle
so that the handle lines up with the unlocked icon “ ” on the brew
head and fits into the groove. Then, slowly turn the handle to the
right until it lines up with the locked position “ ”.
BREWING ESPRESSO
1. Ensure drip tray is in the unit.
2. Make sure the on/off button “ ” light is off.
3. Place the cup or 2 cups under the portafilter or if you prefer,
place a small mug. If you wish to prepare up to 4 cups at a
time, you should use a small mug or regular cup and then pour
the espresso into the individual espresso cups. If you will be
brewing up to 2 espresso cups at a time, you can place the 2
small cups under the portafilter ensuring each one of them is
directly under one of the two outlet spouts located under the
portafilter.
4. Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet and press the on “
” button. The power indicator light will become solid while
the unit is on.
5. To begin the brewing process, press the brew button “ ” either
once for 1 cup, or twice for 2 cups. The espresso will begin
flowing in seconds. NOTE: Press and hold the brew button “ ”
to start the brewing process manually.
6. Once you have brewed your espresso, press the off button “
” and unplug the unit. Allow the unit to cool down before
removing parts and accessories prior to cleaning.
7. After the unit has cooled down, remove the portafilter from the
brew head. Turn the portafilter upside down to remove the used
espresso grounds. Rinse the filter and portafilter with water.
8. If you wish to brew additional espresso, repeat the process by
following the steps in the “HOW TO BREW ESPRESSO” section.
CAUTION: The metal parts of the portafilter might still be very
hot. Cool these parts by running under cold water.
9. For cleaning instructions, refer to the "CLEANING YOUR
ESPRESSO MAKER" section.
NOTE: If the unit has not been used for several days, it is
recommended to prime the unit for 30 seconds. (see PRIME THE
MACHINE section on page 16)
HOW TO MAKE CAPPUCCINO
Cappuccino is espresso topped with steamed and frothed milk.
Frothing milk for cappuccino takes practice. Do not be discouraged
if it is not perfect the first time. The milk should be half steamed
(bottom of pitcher) and half froth (top of pitcher). It may take a few
times before you perfect this process.
For best results, we recommend frothing the milk in a separate
mug with handle and pouring the steamed milk into your coffee.
The milk and mug should be cold. Do not use a pitcher that has just
been washed in warm water. We also recommend a stainless steel
frothing pitcher and a beverage thermometer, if you own one, for
preparing the best froth and steamed milk.
