OPERATION

DESCRIPTION

The Oil Guardian is part of Lincoln Electric’s Guardian Control™ fire

safety solutions for prevention, detection and suppression of fire.

The Oil Guardian is installed in combination with an MDB (types:

MDB-4 to MDB-48. Combination with larger filter systems upon

request) filter system and can be used:

• As stand-alone unit.

• Connected to a System Control Panel (preferred).

• In combination with SCS filter system.

NOTE: In this manual we assume the Oil Guardian is connected to a System

Control Panel.

If the Oil Guardian is used as a stand-alone unit, the safety

feature that switches off the entire system in certain cases

will become void.

The Oil Guardian is a limestone dosing system to be installed between

Spark Guardian (spark arrester) and MDB filter system. The

integrated limestone reservoir is refilled from the top. Two agitator

mechanisms and a screw conveyor, driven by three separate motors,

arrange transportation and dosing of the limestone. The control box is

incorporated inside the front door.

Using negative pressure, small amounts of limestone powder are

extracted in the filter inlet duct, where it mixes with oily welding

fume. This reduces fire risk in the connected filter system from

sparks or spontaneous combustion. While enhancing the lifespan of

the filter cartridges.

To create a fire-safe situation at all times, the limestone dosing

system will only operate when the following conditions are present:

• Presence of limestone in reservoir.

• Limestone refill lid is closed.

• Negative pressure exists.

If one of the conditions is lacking, the agitator mechanisms and the

screw conveyor will immediately stop turning.
