5. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
5.1 – Power On / O
To switch the device on, simply turn the power/volume knob [B] to the right
until a click is heard. The device will emit a specic tone conrming that it
has been switched on and pronounce the selected channel number. To
switch the device o, perform the same procedure in reverse, i.e., turn the
knob to the left until a click is heard. To optimise the battery life and prevent
unnecessary power wastage, the device should be turned o if it is not
expected to be used again straight away. With the device switched o, all
functions are suspended, including the receiving of transmissions on the
selected channel.
5.2 – Adjusting the volume
With the device switched on, turning the knob [B] to the right increases the
volume of the communications received. Likewise, turning the knob to the
left reduces the volume. The volume must be adjusted to the ideal level
taking into account the user’s hearing capabilities, ambient noise, possibly
disturbing situations and the need to preserve the health of the auditory
system. The volume level must be adjusted while receiving a
communication, as the device does not make any sound when not receiving
transmissions.
5.3 – Selecting the channel
The device can operate on 8 dierent channels. This means that only
transmissions emitted by a correspondent who has selected the same
channel will be received. Similarly, it will only be possible to communicate
with correspondents tuned in to the same selected channel.
The buttons [E] and [F] on the left side of the device are used to switch to the
next ([E]) or previous ([F]) channel by one channel at a time with each press.
Once channel 8 has been reached, pressing the button again causes the
channels to restart from channel 1. Similarly, once channel 1 has been
reached, pressing the button again causes the channels to restart from
