VMB301 Condition monitoring sensor with CANopen interface
42
17 Reading out raw acceleration data
The device can record the raw acceleration data, store it in the device and read it out via CANopen if
required. The raw data can be used to carry out an in-depth vibration analysis.
Recommended analysis software:
VES004 (version V2.37.00 or higher) → Accessories on documentation.ifm.com
The raw data can be read out via an SDO command and the following settings can be made:
Index Subindex Description Type Access
0x4003 0x01 Raw data source

Domain Transfer raw data
block by block
The raw data block has a configurable recording length (4 s or 12 s) and a sampling rate of approx. 16
kSample (the exact value is contained in the raw data header). Each individual sample has a bit width
of 16 bits and is transmitted in signed integer format.
Each raw data block has a data file header that contains additional information about the time of raw
data recording. The header has a total length of 124 bytes and is structured as follows:
Parameter Description
Product code, serial number and vendor ID Article data of the device
Raw data length Raw data length in bytes
Raw data scaling The scaling factor to normalise the signed integer format to 1g gravitational
acceleration (manual calculation required).
Raw data sample frequency Sample frequency of the raw data recording in Hertz [Hz]
Raw data trigger source Source of the raw data trigger (e.g. system command, PDOut, internal event)
Raw data source Measurement axis of the raw data
Process values All process values at the time of recording in x,y and z, as well as the magni-
tude (e.g. v-RMS (z), v-RMS (x), surface temperature...)
Internal device temperature Internal device temperature
Unbalance analysis Value of the unbalance calculation at the time of recording (if configured)
BearingScout
TM
(bearing characteristic value) Value of the bearing calculation at the time of recording (if configured)
Speed of the machine (index 0x2020) Configured speed value at the time of recording (if configured)
Delta time Delta time between reading and recording the raw data
VMB devices provide a memory area for raw data recording regardless of the recording method.
The device only holds one raw data recording at a time. Each raw data recording deletes the
previous recording.
