6.8 General notes on wiring
The threaded connections in the device correspond to the M12 standard. To ensure compliance with
the specified protection rating, only cables that comply with this standard may be used. In the case of
self-assembled cables, the system manufacturer is responsible for the protection rating.
u Use connectors with gold-plated contacts.
u During installation, place the connectors vertically so that the coupling nut will not damage the
thread.
u Observe the coding of the connectors during installation.
If connector in device:
u Tighten the cable socket according to the torque specifications indicated by the cable
manufacturer. At least 1.2Nm, maximum permissible torque: 1.5 Nm
If socket in device:
u Tighten the cable plugs according to the torque specifications indicated by the cable manufacturer.
At least 1.2Nm, maximum permissible torque: 1.5 Nm
u Cover unused connections with protective caps.
Secure the cable entries of the mating connectors by cable strain relief to prevent them from
being pulled out.
The IP rating of the overall system depends on the protection ratings of the individual devices, the
applied connection elements and the corresponding protective caps.
ATTENTION
No protection rating / no protection of the contacts without mounted connectors / protective
caps.
w Inadmissible soiling / moisture possible.
w Separation of circuits / safety might be impaired.
u Before installation / when replacing the device, observe pollution degree 2.
u Ensure separation / safety.
6.9 Removing the connector with vibration protection
u Press the connector against the unit and simultaneously loosen the coupling nut.
6.10 Terminating resistor
If the encoder (SR) is used at the end of the CAN bus topology, a terminating resistor is required.
