6 Installation
CAUTION
Escaping compressed air or hot media.
Risk of injury caused by pressure or burns.
Before installing or removing the device, ensure that no pressure is applied to the system
and that there is no medium in the pipe or tank.
Note dangers related to machine / medium temperatures.
ATTENTION
Applications where steam is applied
Risk of mechanical damage of the sensor or the piping system due to steam surge.
Protect the sensor from excessive stress due to cavitation and steam surge.
Design the piping system according to the state of the art.
Do not install the sensor in the direct vicinity of fittings, pipe bends and the like in order to
prevent unnecessary maximisation of steam surges.
Preheat the system before the steam enters and remove liquid residues from the pipes, e.g.
by blowing out or other suitable measures.
The permissible temperatures of the sensor must not be exceeded

If “0” is displayed and no pointer is visible, this does not mean that no pressure is applied to the
system.
6.1 Installation position
If the medium temperature is high, install the device horizontally (

After installation, the display can be rotated to a vertical position

6.2 Process connection
The device has a G1 Aseptoflex Vario process connection.
Using process adapters the unit can be adapted to different process connections.
Adapters have to be ordered separately as accessories.
• Information about the available mounting accessories at www.ifm.com.
• A correct fit of the device and ingress resistance of the connection are only ensured using ifm adapt-
ers.
Observe the instructions of the mounting accessories.
Slightly grease the thread using a lubricating paste which is suitable and approved for the application.
Insert the device with the process adapter into the process connection.
Tighten it using a wrench: tightening torque 35 Nm.
