ATTENTION
If the sensor is screwed too tightly into the adapter.
w The seal of the process connection will be impaired.
u Use a torque wrench.
u Do not exceed the tightening torque of 35 Nm.
5.2.1 Process adapter with sealing ring (hygiene-compliant to 3-A and
EHEDG)
u To meet the hygiene regulations use a process adapter with leakage port.
The process adapters are supplied with an EPDM O-ring.
More sealing rings are available as accessories:
• FKM O-ring (only for 3-A)
• PEEK sealing ring
– The PEEK sealing ring is long-term stable and maintenance-free.
– When replacing the PEEK sealing ring or when changing from the PEEK sealing ring to an O-
ring: Replace the process adapter with a new equivalent process adapter.
u Use for 3-A marked and EHEDG certified clamp designs to ISO2852 and DIN32676 in
combination with Combifit sealing.

5.2.2 Welding adapter with sealing ring (hygiene-compliant to 3-A and
EHEDG)
u To meet the hygiene regulations use a process adapter with leakage port.
The welding adapter is supplied with an EPDM O-ring.
An FKM O-ring is available as accessory (only for 3-A).

CAUTION
Welding work
w Risk of injury due to improper welding of the adapter.
u Ensure that welding is performed by qualified personnel according to the state of the art.
u Observe the installation instructions of the welding adapter used, in particular the
warning and safety information provided in these instructions (Ò download at
documentation.ifm.com).
5.2.3 Process adapter with hygienic metal-to-metal seal
A long-term stable, maintenance-free and gap-free fitting in the metal-to-metal seal is only valid
for once-only mounting.
If the sealing is mounted multiple times:
u Replace the process adapter with a new equivalent process adapter.
