3 Intended use
The device is a configurable frequency-to-current converter and a pulse evaluation system for
monitoring rotating, linear, vibrating or oscillating movements and frequency signals.
It receives the pulses from external sensors, measures the pulse interval and calculates the input
frequency. This value is compared with the set switch points. The outputs are switched in accordance
with the set parameters. Based on the set parameters, the integrated frequency-to-current converter
converts the input frequency into an analogue output signal.
The analogue output signal is used, for example, to control analogue measuring or recording
instruments, PLC input cards or frequency inverters that function as speed setpoint adjusters.
The setting possibilities of the various parameters ensure that the function of the device is variable
within a great range of values and can thus be adapted to the individual application.
• Outputs (relays) for direct control of contactors, smaller drives, valves, etc.
• In the control cabinet in an industrial environment (indoors) as a permanently installed device with
supply from SELV/PELV according to the technical data.
Operation by trained, authorised specialist personnel due to protection class IP20.
The device is not suited for environments with particular requirements on mechanical stability
(e.g. shock/vibration).

Detection of a quantity per time unit or conversion of the measured value into an analogue
standard signal
Individual bottles on a conveyor belt are detected by a sensor. The device determines the number of
bottles per second from the sensor’s switching signal.
The teach function enables the assignment of an actual signal value to a switch point and the
assignment of the process value to the analogue output.
The analogue output provides an analogue signal that is proportional or antiproportional to the number
of bottles detected per second.
