f) Ensure that the cylinder is positioned on the scale before recovery is performed.
g) Turn on the recovery machine and operate it according to the manufacturer's instructions.
h) Do not overll cylinders. (Do not exceed 80% of the volume of the charging liquid).
i) Do not exceed the maximum working pressure of the cylinder, even temporarily.
j) When the cylinders have been lled correctly and the process has been completed, ensure that the
cylinders and equipment are promptly removed from the site and all isolation valves are closed.
k) Recovered refrigerant should not be charged to another recovery system unless it has been cleaned and
tested.
18. LABELLED
The equipment must be labeled indicating that it has been removed from service and does not have
refrigerant. The label must have the date and signature. Make sure there are labels on the equipment
updating the status of the ammable refrigerant.
19. RECOVERY
When removing refrigerant from a system, whether for maintenance or decommissioning, it is recommended
that good practices be used so that the process is carried out safely.
When transferring refrigerant to cylinders, ensure that only appropriate refrigerant recovery cylinders are
used. Ensure that the correct number of cylinders are available to contain the load of the entire system.
All cylinders to be used are designed for refrigerant recovery and labeled for that refrigerant (e.g. special
refrigerant recovery cylinders). Cylinders must have pressure relief valves and associated shut-off valves
in good condition.
Empty recovery cylinders shall be completely emptied and, if possible, cooled prior to recovery.
Recovery equipment must be in good working order, with a set of instructions available, and must be
suitable for the recovery of ammable refrigerants. A set of calibrated scales in good working order
should also be available.
Hoses must be complete with leak-free couplings and in good condition. Before using the recuperator,
check that it is in good condition, that it has been well maintained and that the associated electrical
components are sealed to prevent res in the event of refrigerant leakage. Consult the manufacturer if in
doubt.
The recovered refrigerant must be returned to the refrigerant supplier in the correct recovery cylinder and
the corresponding Waste Transfer Note must be prepared. Do not mix refrigerants in recovery units and
especially in cylinders.
If compressors or their oils must be removed, ensure that they have been evacuated to an acceptable level
to ensure that ammable refrigerant is not within the lubricant. The evacuation process must be carried
out before returning the compressor to the suppliers. Only electrical heating of the compressor body is
used to speed up this process. When draining oil from a system, it must be done safely.20. TRANSPORTE,
