11. MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
location in the system away from the leak. Oxygen-free nitrogen (OFN) must be purged through the system
both before and during the welding process.
15. GAS EXTRACTION AND EVACUATIONWhen accessing the refrigerant circuit for repairs or any other
purpose, conventional procedures should be used. It is important that best practices are followed since
ammability is an aspect to take into account. The following procedures must be followed:extraer el
refrigerante;
purge the circuit with inert gas;
evacuate;
purge again with inert gas;
open the circuit by cutting or welding.
The refrigerant charge must be recovered into the appropriate recovery cylinders. The system must be
ushed with OFN to make the unit safe. This process may have to be repeated several times. Compressed
air should not be used for this activity.
Cleaning the pipes must be carried out by breaking the vacuum in the system with OFN, continue lling until
achieved, then vent to the atmosphere and nally undo the vacuum. This process should be repeated until
there is no refrigerant left in the system.
When OFN charging is used, the system must be vented to atmospheric pressure to allow it to operate. This
operation is vital when welding. Make sure the vacuum pump outlet is not closed to ignition sources and
that there is ventilation.
16. LOADING PROCEDURES
In addition to conventional loading procedures, the following requirements must also be followed:
Ensure that contamination of different refrigerants does not occur when using charging equipment. Both
hoses and pipes should be as short as possible to minimize the amount of refrigerant they contain.
The cylinders must always be kept upright.
Make sure the cooling system is grounded before charging refrigerant.
Tag the system when loading is complete (if not already done).
All safety measures must be taken to avoid overloading the refrigerant system.
Before recharging the system, the pressure must be checked with OFN. The system will be checked for
leaks when charging is complete, but prior to installation. A leak test must be performed before leaving the
location.
17. DISASSEMBLY
Before performing this procedure, it is essential that the technician is completely familiar with the equipment
and all its details. The use of good practices is recommended for safe recovery of all refrigerants. Before
carrying out the tasks, oil and coolant samples must be taken.
In case it is necessary to analyze them before using them again or making a claim.
It is essential that power is available before starting preparations.
a) Familiarize yourself with the equipment and its operation.
b) Isolate the system electrically.
c) Before starting the procedure make sure that:
Mechanical handling equipment is available, if necessary, for handling refrigerant cylinders.
All personal protective equipment is available and used correctly.
The recovery process is supervised at all times by a competent person.
Recovery equipment and cylinders comply with relevant regulations.
d) Purge the coolant system with a pump if possible.
e) If vacuum is not possible, apply a hydraulic separator so that the refrigerant can be extracted from various
parts of the system.
