1. Open EWS. See Access and use EWS.
2. Click the Tools tab.
3. From the left menu, click Printer Updates, and then select Firmware Updates.
4. Select the desired options, and then click Apply.
Interpret error codes, lights, and icons
Understand error codes, control panel lights, and display icons, and then take any actions if needed.
NOTE: When all control panel lights on the printer blink, the printer is in an error state. Turn the printer o,
and then on again.
Error codes
When the control panel display shows a letter E, the printer is in an error state.
Error E1/E2
Paper size mismatch (E1) or Paper length mismatch (E2) has occurred.
When printing, the printer detects that the paper size of the printing job does not match the width or length of
the paper loaded.
1. Press the Cancel button to cancel printing.
2. Load paper that matches the size of the page you want to print, or change the paper size settings in your
application to match the size of the paper you are using.
To change the paper size, see Change paper settings from the embedded web server (Wi-Fi models).
3. Print the document again.
Error E3
The print carriage inside the printer has jammed or stalled.
1. Open the front door.
2. Make sure the printhead cover is properly closed and the print carriage is not obstructed.
CAUTION: Do not open the printhead cover.
3. Remove any jammed paper or other objects blocking the carriage.
4. Close the front door.
