5. Thoroughly clean the thermal material from the surface on the bottom of the heat sink each time
the heat sink is removed. Replacement thermal material is included with the heat sink and system
board spare part kits.
To replace the heat sink with fan, reverse the removal procedures.
NOTE: Be sure to replace the fan duct. Failure to install the fan duct can cause the computer to
overheat.
When installing the fan onto the heat sink, be sure that the fan cable is at the bottom of the fan.
1. Place the fan (1) onto the heat sink with the fan cable (2) at the bottom of the fan.
2. Tighten the screws (3).
IMPORTANT: Tighten heat sink retaining screws in diagonally opposite pairs (as in an X) to evenly seat
the heat sink on the processor to avoid damage that could require replacing the system board.
