1. Open the EWS. See Access and use the EWS.
2. Click the Tools tab.
3. From the left menu, click Printer Updates, and then select Firmware Updates.
4. Select the desired options, and then click Apply.
Interpret error codes, lights, and icons
Understand error codes, control panel lights, and display icons, and then take any actions if needed.
NOTE: When all control panel lights on the printer blink, the printer is in an error state. Turn the printer o, and
then on again.
Error codes
When the control panel display shows a letter E, the printer is in an error state.
Error E0
There is a problem with the cartridge indicated by the blinking Ink Level icon.
The left icon represents the color cartridge and the right icon represents the black cartridge.
Check for an error message in HP software and resolve it by following the onscreen instructions.
Error E1/E2
Paper size mismatch (E1) or Paper length mismatch (E2) has occurred.
When printing, the printer detects that the paper size of the printing job does not match the width or length of
the paper loaded.
1. Press the Resume button to continue printing with the error, or press the Cancel button .
2. Load paper that matches the size of the page you want to print, or change the paper size settings in your
application to match the paper loaded in the printer.
To change the paper size, see Change the paper settings.
3. Print the document again.
