1.5 GENERATOR SAFETY
• Fuel and Gasoline Fumes
• Refer to the generator owner’s manual for hazards associated with fuel usage.
• Do NOT store open or unsealed fuel containers on the tower while the on-board generator
is in operation or while the tower is being transported.
• Do NOT smoke or use an open flame around the on-board generator or fuel tank.
EXHAUST FUMES
• These gases are deadly. The onboard generator exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide,
a gas that can be potentially fatal.
• Do NOT operate SkyWatch in any type of enclosed area while utilizing the on-board
generator. To operate SkyWatch indoors, power is supplied to the tower via power cords.
See Section 7.1 Shore Power, for more details.
MOVING PARTS
• Improper operation can cause severe personal injury or death.
• Keep hands away from any moving parts or pinch points.
• Before descending, check to make sure nothing is in the way of the officer’s compartment
descent path.
1.6 ELECTRICAL SAFETY
• Electrical shock can cause severe personal injury or death.
• Turn off the main power switch before attempting to service any of the tower’s electrical
equipment. Use rubber insulated mats, placed on dry wood platforms over floors that are
metal or concrete, when around electrical equipment.
• Do NOT wear damp clothing (particularly wet shoes) or allow exposed skin to be damp
when handling electrical equipment.
• Use extreme caution when working on electrical equipment. High voltages can cause injury
or death.
• Follow state and local electrical codes. Have all installations or electrical connections
performed by qualified, licensed electricians. Tag all open switches to avoid accidental
closure and shock.
