THE CHILLER COMPARTMENT
is compartment is designed for production of ice cubes and short-term storage (3-4 days
at most) of some commercially frozen foods.
e temperature in this compartment docs not get cold enough to freeze food safely for
long periods of time and works best when the food is already frozen.
By design, this chiller compartment is not a true freezer, and may not keep ice cream
frozen, or freeze items.
A colder setting may be used for these items, but other items in the refrigerator may also
be aected.
e chiller door is susceptible to breaking due to excessive ice build up. is part is not
covered under your warranty. Be sure to defrost when the ice reaches 6cm thick even if the
defrosting is automatic.
ENERGY-SAVING TIPS
Install the fridge or freezer in a cool place out of direct sunlight and away from cookers,
heaters, dishwashers or any hot air emitting items.
Do not set the freezer temperatures lower than necessary. Set the internal temperature
within the correct range e.g. adjust the thermostat at middle position -18°C in the
freezer respectively.
Let pre-cooked foods cool down before placing them in the fridge or freezer. ˜is will
prevent the internal temperature of the fridge from rising.
Keep your freezer full, but not over crowded, Try to leave about 20% free space for air
circulation.
To prevent cold air escaping, limit the frequency of opening door. When retuning from
shopping, sort foods to be kept in your freezer before opening the door.
Only open the door to put food in or take it out.
Make sure the door seal is clean and in good condition. Defrost regularly or when ice is
more than 5mm thick. ˜ick ice covering the inner sides signiÿcantly increases energy use.
Be sure to wrap foods properly, and wipe containers dry before placing them in the
appliance, is cuts down on the frost build-up inside the appliance.
Appliance storage bin should not be lined with aluminum foil, wax paper, or paper
toweling. Liners interfere with cold air circulation, making the appliance less ecient.
