Step 3: Change Buttons, Button Labels, or Faceplate (Optional)
Instructions for Decorator-style and EU Models
If desired, replace the faceplate and rotary encoder knob (NBP VC1 D, NBP VC1 EU), or replace one or more
buttons or button pairs using available additional buttons. Optional button kits are available in various languages.
Faceplates are available in black, as well as white. For the NBP VC1 D and NBP VC1 EU, the rotary encoder
knob must be removed in order to replace buttons.
NOTE: A custom button builder tool is available at
https://www.extron.com/product/custombuttonbuilder/index.aspx where you can order standard stock
buttons or custom-labeled buttons for the NBP models that have soft buttons.
For NBP models with customizable label inserts (NBP 50/100/200 and NBP 104 EU), you can use Extron
Button Label Generator software to create custom labels that can be printed on transparent material.
Replacing buttons or a faceplate on a decorator-style or EU NBP
The faceplate must be removed to access buttons.
To replace the buttons or the faceplate:
1. For the NBP VC1 D and NBP VC1 EU only, remove the rotary encoder knob
(see Removing the knob (NBP VC1 models) on the next page).
2. If already installed, remove the wallplate.
Save the two screws for later use.
3. For decorator-style models, remove the faceplate
as follows:
a. Insert the tip of a small, at-bladed
screwdriver (such as an Extron Tweeker)
through one of the slots at the top or
bottom of an NBP D model, as shown in
gure 15 at right.
b. Angle the screwdriver to press gently down
on the tab to release and pry the faceplate
from the mounting plate.
c. If the faceplate has not fully detached from
the circuit board, repeat steps 3a and 3b
with the hole and tabs at the opposite end
of the mounting plate.
d. Lift the faceplate away from the mounting
plate.
For EU models, remove the faceplate as follows:
a. Insert the tip of a small, at-bladed
screwdriver (such as an Extron Tweeker)
through one of the slots at the sides of an
EU model faceplate, as shown at right (

).
There are four slots per faceplate, two on
each side.
b. Press the tab into the body of the NBP EU to
release the faceplate from the circuit board.
c. Repeat steps 3a and 3b with the remaining
slots and tabs around the edges of the
faceplate.
d. Lift the faceplate away from the circuit board
