Locking the Front Panel (Executive Mode)
To prevent unauthorized use of the MLC 55, a front panel security lockout mode (also
called “executive mode”) is available for disabling access to controls. When front panel
lockout is enabled, all the front panel buttons are disabled. If a button is pressed, all the
buttons blink red three times rapidly to indicate lockout, but no action occurs.
• To lock the front panel using the buttons, press and hold the On and Off buttons
(buttons 1 and 2) simultaneously for 3 seconds. All the buttons blink red three times
rapidly to indicate that the front panel is locked.
• To unlock the front panel, press and hold the On and Off buttons again for 3 seconds.
All front panel buttons initially blink red rapidly. After 3 seconds, the buttons blink
white three times slowly to indicate that lockout mode is disabled.
You can also lock and unlock the front panel using the MLC configuration program (see
the MLC 55 Series Configuration Program Help File) and SIS commands (see the Front
Panel Lockout commands on page 46).
Resetting
If it becomes necessary to reset the MLC to its default factory firmware or to the default
configuration settings that were implemented at the factory, you can use the Reset
button, SIS commands (see the Reset SIS command on page 46) or the configuration
program (see the MLC 55, 62 and 64 Series Configuration Program help file).
The Reset button and LED are located on the MLC front panel behind the faceplate (see
figure 26). On the MLC 55 RS, RS VC, MK, and EU V models, they are at the bottom of
the unit, below the bottom two buttons. On the MLC 55 RS EU, they are located in the
center of the unit, between the Off button and the volume buttons.
To access the Reset button and LED, remove the faceplate (see Removing and
Replacing the Faceplate on page 16), and use the included Extron Tweeker or other
small screwdriver to press the recessed button. Figure 26 shows examples of the Reset
button and LED on an MLC 55 RS and an MLC 55 RS EU.
