ATTENTION:
• Installation and service must be performed by authorized personnel only. UL
Listed junction boxes and faceplates are recommended.

• The length of the exposed wires in the stripping process is critical. The ideal
length is 3/16 inches (5 mm). If they are any longer, the exposed wires may
touch, causing a short circuit between them. If they are any shorter, the wires
can be easily pulled out even if tightly fastened by the captive screws.

2. Plug the connector into the orange 2-pole captive screw power connector on the rear
panel. In the example shown in figure 14, a power supply is being connected to the
power connector of an MLC 55 RS.

Removing and Replacing the Faceplate
Each MLC model is delivered with a faceplate that is attached by a magnet in each of its
four corners. This faceplate can be removed if you need to connect the computer to the
USB configuration port, perform IR Learning, access the Reset button, or exchange the
faceplate or volume knob for another.
Replacement kits containing a faceplate and volume knob (if appropriate) can be ordered
for US models only (see the Extron website for information on parts that are provided or
available to order for each model). Black faceplate kits can also be ordered for US models
(the MLC 55 RS VC kit also contains a black volume knob).
Removing a Faceplate from an Unmounted Unit
In order to connect and mount the MLC, you must remove the faceplate. To detach the
faceplate from the unit, grasp the unit firmly with one hand and, with the other hand, pull
the faceplate off the MLC metal mounting plate, starting with a corner.
