Front Panel Features
By default, the front panel button modes are set to perform the functions with which they
are named. Using the MLC configuration program, you can select other functions and
operating modes for these buttons (see the configuration program help file).
A
Display power On and Off buttons — After configuring these buttons, use them to
turn the connected display device or switcher on and off. The face of the On button
contains a nub (
I
), which lets you identify the button location on the panel by touch.
When the On button is pressed, it blinks rapidly while the connected device is
warming up (30 seconds by default). When the Off button is pressed, it blinks slowly
while the device is cooling down (60 seconds by default). When this delay period has
elapsed, the power button that was pressed remains brightly lit.
In addition, the On button blinks red slowly if the MLC detects incompatibility between
the firmware and software versions.
By default, these two buttons are in Power mode, meaning that only one of these
buttons can be selected (active) at once.
B
IR Learning sensor — This sensor enables the MLC to learn IR commands from the
hand-held remote control of a display device or switcher. The IR-learned commands
are used to create an IR driver using the program, then configured to be played back
with a press of any desired button (see IR Learning on page 20).
C
Input selection buttons — By default, these buttons are labeled PC and Video.
Their default mode is Input mode, which means that, like in Power mode, only one of
these buttons can be active at a time. When one input button is pressed (activated), it
lights brightly and all others in the same mode become dim (inactive).
D
Reset LED — When you press the Reset button, this green LED lights and remains
lit until released (see Resetting on page 26).
E
Reset button — Using the provided Extron Tweeker or other small screwdriver, press
this recessed button to initiate resets to factory firmware or configuration resets (see
Resetting).
F
Volume buttons (all models except MLC 55 RS VC) — By default, these buttons
are set to adjust the audio volume of the display device. Each volume button is in
Volume mode, which means that it lights when pressed and remains lit, while the
display volume increments (Vol
>
button) or decrements (Vol
<
button), until released.
NOTE: On the MLC 55 RS VC, you are not able to set any buttons to Volume
mode. By default these two buttons are configured for input selection (see
figure 4,
C
, on page 7).
G
Volume control knob (MLC 55 RS VC only)— Rotate this knob to increase or
decrease the volume on the Extron amplifier with remote volume port capability that is
connected to the volume control module.
H
USB configuration port — Connect a USB cable (USB A-to-USB mini-B) between
your computer and this port to configure the MLC via the configuration program and
to update the firmware.
NOTE: Before performing IR Learning to create a driver, check to see if an Extron
driver exists for your device (see Obtaining Device Drivers on page 34).
I
Power On button Identification nub — Button 1, usually configured as the Power
On button, contains a raised nub on its face that lets the Power On button be identified
by touch.
