2.3 Intended Use
The user is liable for any damage caused by improper
use. Use the product only under the following conditions:
• This motor is designed to be incorporated into a fixed
or moving machine.
• It is for right hand rotation only unless designed by LH
(left hand rotation) in the model number and should
be mounted by the threaded nose or clamped on the
motor housing body, as appropriate.
• No other use permitted. For professional use only.
2.4 Foreseeable misuse
► DO NOT use the product as a hammer.
► DO NOT disassemble the product.
► This product and its accessories must not be modified
in any way.
► Do not use this product if it has been damaged.
► If the product data or hazard warning signs on the
product cease to be legible or become detached, re-
place without delay.
► DO NOT use the fixtured spindle as a handheld tool.
► DO NOT use the product as a handheld tool.
2.5 Personal Protective Equipment
► Wear protective goggles if there is a risk of dirt or
parts being ejected.
► Wear hearing protection.
► Wear safety shoes.
► Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or
jewelry.
► Wear a hair net, if necessary.
2.6 General Pneumatic Tool
Safety Warnings
1 Projectile hazards
The following apply to all tools:
• Be aware that failure of the workpiece or accessories,
or even of the inserted tool itself can generate high-
velocity projectiles.
• Always wear impact-resistant eye protection during
operation of the tool or when changing accessories on
the tool. The grade of protection required should be
assessed for each use.
• Ensure that the workpiece is securely fixed.
• The risks to others should also be assessed at this
time.
• For overhead work, wear a safety helmet.
• Check regularly that the speed of the tool is not higher
than that marked on it. These speed checks shall be
carried out without the abrasive product mounted and
in accordance with the instructions given by the man-
ufacturer.
• Ensure that sparks and debris resulting from use do
not create a hazard.
• Disconnect the tool from the energy supply before
changing abrasive product and servicing.
2 Entanglement hazards
The following applies:
• Choking, scalping and/or lacerations can occur if
loose clothing, personal jewelry, neck wear, hair or
gloves are not kept away from the tool and accesso-
ries.
3 Operating hazards
The following applies to all tools:
• Clamp the tool securely.
• Always fit start, stop and emergency stop controls to
the machine into which the motor is incorporated.
• Ensure the tool is at a complete stop prior to removing
work.
The following applies to die grinders:
• Use of the tool can expose the operator's hands to
hazards, including cuts and abrasions and heat:
Wear suitable gloves to protect hands.
• Activate the stop device in the case of an interruption
of the energy supply.
• Use only lubricants recommended by the manufac-
turer.
• Personal protective safety glasses shall be used; suit-
able gloves and protective clothing are recom-
mended.
• Be aware that there is a running-on of the rotary in-
serted tool after the start-and-stop device has been
released.
• Ensure that sparks are controlled to prevent potential
hazards to personnel or surrounding materials.
The following applies to sanders and polishers:
• Inspect the backing pad before each use. Do not use
if cracked or broken or if it has been dropped.
• Avoid direct contact with the moving sanding pad in
order to prevent pinching or cutting of hands or other
body parts. Wear suitable gloves to protect hands.
• Never run the tool unless abrasive is applied to the
workpiece.
• There is a risk of electrostatic discharge if used on
plastic and other non-conductive materials.
• Potentially explosive atmospheres can be caused by
dust and fumes resulting from sanding or grinding. Al-
ways use dust extraction or suppression systems
which are suitable for the material being processed.
6 Workplace hazards
The following applies to all tools:
• Slips, trips and falls are major causes of workplace in-
jury. Be aware of slippery surfaces caused by use of
the tool and also of trip hazards caused by the air line
or hydraulic hose.
• Proceed with care in unfamiliar surroundings. There
can be hidden hazards, such as electricity or other
utility lines.
• The tool is not intended for use in potentially explo-
sive atmospheres and is not insulated against contact
with electric power.
• Ensure that there are no electrical cables, gas pipes,
etc., which can cause a hazard if damaged by use of
the tool.
