6.2. Installation integrated in the luggage carrier
On some luggage racks (see list) the Toplight Kite E can be mounted integrated (see 6. Installation
sketch 3).
To do this, loosen the two T10 screws on the underside of the taillight

and put them aside, then
separate the taillight

into upper and lower sections.
After the upper part of the rear light

has been removed, the lower part of the rear light

can
be screwed to the luggage carrier provided. To do this, use the two T10 screws

and tighten them to
1 Nm .

When mounted in the luggage carrier, the enclosed rear reflector

cannot be used.
Suitable luggage carriers include Port by Carl & Marta. (RR03003-001)
7. Power supply
Rear light

only for connection to a DC voltage source of 5 to 15 V (Kite E) or 6 to 42 V (Kite E BREX)
(
DC AC
), e.g. e-bike battery. Connection to an alternating voltage source (e.g. dynamo) can destroy the
headlight‘s electronics!
Pay attention to correct polarity!
Black wire = ground (-), black and white wire = power (+).
The connection of this tail light

is only permitted on vehicles where it is guaranteed that after the
engine has been switched off due to discharge, power is still available to supply the lighting system for
at least 2 hours.
8. Operation
The rear light
1
is switched on and off via the vehicle display or via the headlight.
8.1. Brex functions (optional)
Brake light function: If the speed is significantly reduced, the lower light strip of the rear
light

also lights up automatically signalling the braking process to the following traffic.
Emergency stoplight function: In the event of an extreme reduction in speed (emergency
braking), a very noticeable flashing of the LED emergency stoplight warns the following
traffic of an abrupt braking manoeuvre. This ensures superior protection against rear-end
collisions and can prevent accidents when cycling in convoys and with children!
Correct alignment of the rear light

is a prerequisite for the proper functioning of the
brake and emergency stoplight function (see: 6. Assembly).
9. Further comments
If the bicycle is sprayed with water, left upside down in the rain or transported on a car in the
rain, the rear light
1
must be sealed (e.g. with a foil bag) to prevent moisture from entering.
Disposal: Taillights with electronics do not belong in household waste, but must be disposed
of as hazardous waste.
