DAW Setup
Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) is a software application used for recording,
editing, mixing, and producing audio.
Polar is compatible with any DAW that supports ASIO on Windows and any
DAW that supports Core Audio on macOS.
This rest of this section will cover how to set up your Polar 2 to start recording
with the most popularly used DAWs, including:
n Ableton Live
n Logic Pro X
n Pro Tools
n Cubase
n FL Studio
n Studio One
Before following each guide, make sure you’ve connected your Polar 2 to your
computer using the USB-C connection, ensuring that the interface is powered
on and properly connected.
Ableton Live
1. Setup:
n Open Ableton Live and go to Preferences (usually found under the
Live menu on Mac or Options menu on Windows).
n Select the Audio tab.
n Under Audio Input Device, choose the Polar Audio Interface.
n Under Audio Output Device, select the Polar Audio Interface.
n Adjust the buer size and sample rate as needed for your project.
2. Recording Audio:
n Create a new audio track in Ableton Live.
n Select the input channel corresponding to the connected
instrument or microphone.
n Arm the track for recording by clicking the record button on
the track.
n Press the main record button in Ableton Live to start recording.

Logic Pro X
1. Setup:
n Open Logic Pro X and go to Preferences > Audio.
n Under the Devices tab, set Output Device and Input Device to the
Polar Audio Interface.
n Adjust the buer size and sample rate as needed for your project.
2. Recording Audio:
n Create a new audio track in Logic Pro X.
n Select the appropriate input channel for your connected
instrument or microphone.
n Arm the track for recording by clicking the R button on the track.
n Press the main record button in Logic Pro X to start recording.
Pro Tools
1. Setup:
n Open Pro Tools and go to Setup > Playback Engine.
n Select the Polar Audio Interface as the Playback Engine.
n Go to Setup > I/O and congure the inputs and outputs
as needed.
2. Recording Audio:
n Create a new audio track in Pro Tools.
n Select the appropriate input channel for your connected
instrument or microphone.
TIP: If you don’t already have a DAW installed on your computer, you can get started quickly
with the included Ableton Live Lite software that comes with your Polar 2.
