BM-15M MURF BOX Controls
(EN)
Step 2: Controls
Top Panel
1. FILTERS – This section has 8 sliders that each adjust the gain
for each slider’s respective resonant lter. When a slider is
set all the way down, that slider’s lter generates zero gain
or output; The full up setting produces maximum gain from
that lter.
2. DRIVE – Adjusts the level of the input signal.
3. DRIVE LED – Indicates the strength and headroom of the
input signal. Turn the DRIVE control so that the LEVEL LED
mostly lights yellow, with occasional ashes of red on
signal peaks.
4. OUTPUT – Controls the nal output volume.
ANIMATION Section
The ANIMATION section is a simple sequencer used to generate
patterns with adjustable envelopes in order to shape and
modulate resonant lters in the FILTERS section.
5. ENVELOPE – Controls and morphs the lter envelope’s shape
by changing attack and decay values. In the middle setting
at 5, the attack and decay slopes are equal; As you rotate the
knob counter-clockwise from the middle position, the attack
slope becomes quicker and more abrupt, while the decay
slope becomes longer and smoother in proportion; As you
rotate the knob clockwise, the attack slope becomes longer
and smoother while decay slope becomes shorter and more
abrupt. The envelope’s attack and decay speed also changes
in response to the RATE knob (see (9) RATE for
more information).
6. LFO (ON/OFF) – Sliding switch turns the LFO (Low Frequency
Oscillator) on and o. The LFO uses a simple sine wave
oscillation pattern. In the ON position, the LFO will shift the
lter frequencies up and down automatically as a group.
When the switch is set to the ON position, the LFO’s speed and
the amount of frequency shift can be controlled by expression
pedals connected to the LFO RATE and LFO
AMT jacks, respectively.
7. MIX – Adjusts the balance between direct and eected signal
when the eect is switched on.
8. FREQ (BASS/MIDS) – Sliding switch determines whether
the 8 lters are focused on the center frequencies of 160, 240,
350, 525, 775, 1200 and 1800 Hz (BASS) or on the 200, 300,
450, 675, 1000, 1500, 2200, and 3400 Hz set of frequencies
(MIDS). Use the BASS setting for bass guitars or other bass
sounds to help retain low end presence; Use the MIDS setting
for sounds and instruments with more midrange frequencies,
such as guitars, vocals or synth pads. The BASS and MIDS
settings each also allow access to a respective bank of 12
sequence patterns for selection by the (10) PATTERN knob.
9. RATE – Controls the speed of the sequence pattern, as well
as the speed of the attack and decay envelope determined
by the (5) ENVELOPE knob. Faster RATE settings shorten the
envelope times, while slower RATE settings lengthen the
envelope time.
10. PATTERN – Rotary switch selects between 12 sequence
patterns, in 2 banks that are accessed by switching between
BASS and MIDS settings of the (8) FREQ sliding switch.
11. BYPASS LED – Indicates whether the eect is active or
bypassed (green = active; red = bypassed).
12. RATE LED – Flashes to indicate the sequence speed controlled
by the RATE knob.
13. BYPASS – Press this footswitch to activate or bypass the
eect. The eect status is indicated by the BYPASS LED.
Back Panel
14. AUDIO IN – Plug your instrument or audio source into this
¼" TS jack.
15. AUDIO OUTS (LEFT/MONO and RIGHT) – Use these dual
¼" TS jacks to send the nal output signal out to an amplier
or other devices as a mono signal (L/MONO OUT jack only) or
in stereo (both L/MONO OUT and R OUT in use).
16. RATE/MIX/ENVELOPE/LFO SWEEP/TAP STEP – All of these
¼" TRS jacks allow you to connect expression pedals or other
voltage-based controllers for real-time adjustment of
these parameters.
17. MIDI IN – Connect external MIDI controllers using a
5-pin DIN connector.
