Chain Stitching
The chain stitch is formed using two threads, one thread in the needle and one in the chain looper.
The chain stitch looks like a straight stitch on the top of the fabric while the chain looper thread forms
a chain on the underside of the fabric. Due to the stitch formation the chain stitch has stretchability
that is not found in the conventional straight stitch on a sewing machine.
Use the chain stitch to stabilize seams in woven fabrics and where needed in knit fabrics. Other
uses are stitching wide elastic to garments, binding fabric edges in garments/projects, basting and
decorative accents using decorative threads.
Instructions for Chain Looper, Chain Needle(s) threading (See pages 19, 22, 24).
NOTE: All chain and cover stitches must be started with fabric under the needle(s). To chain-off of
the fabric refer to page 25.
