DMX Profile Overview for Aputure OS II
With the release of the Storm 1200x 1000c and 80c, Aputure is launching OS II. OS II features the
same menu structure and experience, and DMX Profile Structure between Aputure products.
There are 3 sets of DMX Profiles:
1. Basic DMX Profiles
2. Control Channel DMX Profiles
3. Color Space DMX Profiles
Control Channel Profiles
Profiles labeled “+Control” include three extra channels (Strobe, Control, and Fan). These profiles
are ideal for users seeking advanced control methods.
OS II introduces DMX profiles with three additional control channels, depending on the product:
1. Strobe Channel: Enables strobing in any color.
2. Control Channel: Allows remote execution of light setting commands via a dedicated DMX
channel.
3. Fan Channel: Adjusts the fan speed or behavior if the product is equipped with a fan.
Detailed Breakdown of DMX Channels
Strobe Channel:
The Strobe Channel enables strobe effects in any available color configuration, depending on the
fixture's color mixing capabilities.
● Example – Strobe a 20000K Color
In Profile 3, set CCT (Channel 2) to 20,000K / 255. Set Strobe (Channel 4) to Rate of 25Hz
/ 255. The light be at Max Strobe at 20,000K.
Control Channel:
The Control Channel allows remote execution of fixture settings via predefined DMX values. To
apply a command, assign the specified value to the Control Channel for 2.5 seconds, then reset it to
0. The fixture will issue a brief confirmation flash (red) upon successful execution.
● Example – Turning DMX Smoothing Off:
In Profile 3, set Control Channel (Channel 5) to Value 27 for 2.5 seconds, then reset it to 0.
The fixture will flash red at 20% brightness to indicate that DMX Smoothing has been
disabled.
● Example – Enabling DMX Smoothing:
To enable DMX Smoothing in Profile 3, set Channel 5 to Value 30 for 2.5 seconds, then
reset to 0. The red flash at 20% brightness confirms the change.
Control Channel Signal Confirmation:
In cases where the confirmation flash is undesirable, such as when modifying multiple fixtures in
enclosed spaces, the Signal Confirmation can be disabled by setting the Control Channel to Value
15, then back to 0. By default, the Signal Confirmation is enabled.
