For example, if the base firmware loaded is the 4K variant, each time the system
is rebooted the KONA 5 card will start up with the 4K version of firmware.
However, once booted with the 4K firmware running, Advanced Fast Options can
be accessed to use fast bitfile switching to rapidly refresh KONA 5 with the 8K
or 12-Bit firmware. This takes just a few seconds and can be performed without
rebooting.

Likewise, if the base firmware loaded is the 8K variant, each time the system is
rebooted the card will start up with the 8K version of the firmware, and you can
again use Advanced Fast Options to quickly revert back to the 4K or 12-Bit version
bitfile without the need to reboot.
NOTE: After fast switching your KONA 5 firmware, you should close and re-open your
NLE/Capture/or Playback software (for example, AJA Control Room), to prevent
potential bad capture for UltraHD2/8K content. In addition, you may want to
close and reopen AJA Control Panel if you experience any issues after making a
fast firmware switch.
This feature is only available for KONA 5 running v16.0 or newer software, and the
first installation of that version will require a system reboot to complete.
NOTE: Fast updates will revert to the previous fast firmware version installed if the
computer enters sleep mode, is power cycled or reset.
