6. Click Shut Down to power down the computer.
7. Restart the computer.
8. Open AJA Control Panel. The AJA hardware with the updated rmware
should be recognized by the Control Panel application.
Firmware Versions
KONA 1 currently supports a single firmware version.
KONA 4 supports two different versions of firmware that have different
capabilities. One version of firmware can be installed at a time.
• UFC Mode—Supports SD, HD, and 2K formats (allows up/down/cross-
conversion)
• 4K Mode—Supports SD, HD, 2K and UltraHD (3840x2160) and 4K (4096x2160)
formats (disables up/down/cross-conversion)
KONA 5 supports three different versions of firmware that have different
capabilities. One version of firmware can be installed at a time.
• 4K Mode—Supports 4K, UltraHD, 2K, HD, SD at 12-bit, 10-bit, and 8 bit with
the appropriate 12G-SDI, 6G-SDI, 3G-SDI & 1.5G-SDI links. One channel of
12G-SDI is available for input on SDI 1 and output on SDI 3. Also supports color
space conversion and downstream keying. 8K video is not supported.
• 8K Mode—Supports 8K and UltraHD2 over four 12G-SDI links at 10-bit and
8-bit. Also supports 4K, UltraHD, 2K, HD, and SD over single 12G link. This
mode does not support color space conversion or downstream keying.
• 12-Bit Mode—Supports 4K, UltraHD, 3G /6G, 12-Bit LUT, color space conversion
and downstream keying. Does not support 8K/UHD2 or 4K Quad Mode.
KONA 5 Fast Bitfile Switching
With v16.0 or newer software, KONA 5 has a fast bitfile switching option. This
can be used when a workflow requires moving back and forth between different
projects.
