2.3 Signal Connection and Pin Assignment
2.3.1 Analog Input Connection of iDAQ-801
An analog input channel provides constant current source (I
IEPE
) for the external inte-
grated electronic piezoelectric (IEPE) sensor, and measures the voltage (V
S
) gener-
ated by the sensor. The voltage is AC coupled through internal capacitors, amplified
or attenuated by a programmable gain instrumentation amplifier (PGIA), conditioned
by an anti-aliasing filter, and sampled and converted into a digital form of data by an
analog-to-digital converter (ADC). This is shown in Figure 2.2.

The analog input channel can also measure the voltage (V
S
) of the external source.
The voltage is amplified or attenuated by a programmable gain instrumentation
amplifier (PGIA), conditioned by an anti-aliasing filter, and sampled and converted
into a digital form of data by an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). This is shown in
Figure 2.3.
