NETPORT a converter unit which transforms Art-DMX data (DMX-over-Ethernet)
to two independent DMX512 universes (outputs)
NETPORT XT a converter unit between the ADN network and the Ethernet network;
also includes the NETPORT functions (two independent
DMX outputs)
Network address the identification number of a dimmer unit or NETBUS on the ADN
network
OVC file a file describing which parameters will be shown in a query
Priority cue a.k.a. cue number 0. A special cue: always has priority over DMX;
is not included in the Memory Chaser.
RDM Remote Device Management. Name of the future ESTA standard
and protocol for serial bi-directional communication with dimmer
units, moving lights,… It’s A Major Work In Progress. At the day of
writing this manual we don’t know when RDM will be released; and
it is uncertain whether RDM will use the first data pair (bi-directional
RDM data intermixed with uni-directional DMX data) or the second
data pair (which gives much better response times). See Important
information.

STP cable shielded twisted pair; a type of Ethernet cable which is also suitable
for the distribution of DMX and ADN signals
System-wide the system-wide commands Play and Record are broadcast to all
dimmer units on the ADN network, to achieve synchronous response.
Terminator or termination resistance. Resistance wired across a data pair R =
120 ohm for DMX and ADN. See Appendix x: data line termination.
Unit usually refers to a dimmer unit (a MEMOPACK, a EURODIM 3,…)
Universe from the standard: a DMX512 data link originating from a single DMX
source. Control of up to 512 DMX512 data slots comprises a single
universe.
