Device Overview:
The Cow Drencher is used for delivering liquid medicine into a cow’s rumen. It consists of the
following components:
•
Medicine Pumping Device
•
Transparent Tube
•
Gastric Tube
The medicine pumping device connects to the gastric tube via the transparent tube. The gastric tube
is inserted into the cow’s rumen through the esophagus, and the pumping device administers the
liquid medicine through the tube to complete the rehydration process.
Working Principle of the Medicine Pumping Device:
The device operates similarly to a piston. It is primarily composed of:

Pressure Cylinder
•
Handle
•
Water Outlet Pipe
The operator pulls the handle, which moves the piston inside the pressure cylinder, drawing liquid
into the cylinder through a suction cover at its lower end. When the handle is pushed, the liquid
flows out through the water outlet pipe. One end of the rubber tube connects to the water outlet
pipe, while the other end connects to the gastric tube. The transparent tube allows for clear
observation of the liquid flow.
Gastric Tube Design:
The gastric tube is flexible and bendable, making it easy to insert through the cow's mouth into the
esophagus or rumen without needing an opener. It consists of:

Bull Nose Forceps
The tube components are screwed together in sequence, with the free end connected to the water
outlet. A spring tube surrounds the water tube to prevent the cow from biting it. The proximal end of
the spring tube attaches to a bull-holder designed to fix the device securely to the bull’s nose during
the rehydration process.
