3 Device description
3.1 General
There are different mechanical variants for the WDGA series with IO-Link. The decisive
factor here is the type of flange shape and the type of shaft (solid or hollow shaft). The
size is determined by the diameter of the flange, e.g. 36 mm. The following illustration
shows examples of the WDGA series with IO-Link.

The solid or hollow end shaft is connected to the rotating part whose angular position
or speed is to be measured. Connector outlets form the interface for connection to the
IO-Link network. The status LEDs in the cover signal various states of the encoder
during use. They support the configuration of the encoder or troubleshooting in the
field. The flange holes or the supplied spring plates are used for mounting on the
machine or in the application.
