5. Using a hammer drill and an appropriately sized bit to drill holes for your anchoring
hardware as per the installation instructions provided. If you purchased Vestil’s ¾ in. x 4in.
wedge anchor bolts, e.g. model AS-344 (1 anchor) or AS-344-4PK (kit of 4 anchor bolts), use a ¾in.
masonry bit to drill holes no more than 3¼in. deep into the concrete.
6. Set the posts back in place. Align the bolt holes in the base plates with the holes drilled into
the concrete.
7. Put a ¾in. flat washer followed by a hex nut onto the threaded
end of each wedge anchor bolt; then tap the bolts through the
base plates and into the drilled holes with a hammer. NOTE: The
nut should stick up above the end of the bolt so that the
hammer strikes the nut rather than the end of the bolt.
8. Tighten nuts to expand the anchoring mechanisms and secure posts in place.
Steps 9-12 are just for Models GR-H2R-DI-(9 through 12)-[HDG or YL]. These models
require an additional support that should be located at the center of the section of
guardrail. The following steps describe how to install the additional support.
9. Fasten a J-bracket to the post: Put a 1/2” flat washer onto a ½in.-13 x1½in. hex bolt. Align
the bolt hole in the bracket with the hole in the post and fasten them together with the hex
bolt.
10. Lift the guardrail and move the post and J-bracket into position at the midpoint of the
guardrail; then lower the guardrail into the bracket.
11. Mark the concrete with the location of each bolt hole in the base plate of the post. Move
the post aside. Use a hammer drill and an appropriately sized ¾in. masonry bit to drill holes
into the concrete as per the instructions for your anchoring hardware. See Step 5 above.
12. Set the posts back in place. Align the bolt holes in the base plates with the holes drilled into
the concrete. Anchor the post to the ground as instructed in Steps 7 & 8 above.
13. Reinstall the guardrail.
