9 Care and maintenance
9.4 Operating and display elements
▸ Clean the operating and display elements just with a slightly damp cloth.
9.5 Door seals
▸ Regularly check the door seals and
▸ if dirty clean using a soft brush and clean water. Wipe dry.
9.6 Defrosting
Refrigerator compartment
The refrigerator compartment regularly defrosts automatically, rendering manual defrost-
ing unnecessary.
Keep the collection channel and the drain pipe clean so that water from defrosting
can drain unimpeded.
If milk has been spilt accidentally and ended up in the defrost drainage channel:
► Push some kitchen towel into the drainage hole and try to absorb as much li-
quid as possible.
► If more than 1dl has flowed into the defrost drainage channel and/or a strong
odour develops after a while: Contact Customer Services.
If any foreign objects get into the defrost drainage channel:
► Carefully push a flexible, plastic object (such as a cable tie) into the drainage
hole and try as far as possible to remove them.
► Do not use hard or sharp objects as these could damage the defrost drainage
channel and neighbouring components.
Freezer compartment
A thick coat of ice will impair the transfer of cold to the frozen products. In the event of
strong ice formation, defrost the freezer compartment manually. Keep the frozen food as
cold as possible and wrapped, e.g. in newspaper, for insulation.
Do not use pointed objects to remove ice or food that has frozen on solid. Do not
use electrical heaters or naked flames for defrosting.
