COINS AWAY
In this trick you will make a coin disappear under a piece of paper in an astonishing manner. All you need to perform this
trick are: a coin, a piece of paper and a secret assistant.
Put the coin in your right palm and cover it with a sheet of paper. Say that you will make the coin disappear. Ask an
audience member to open up the paper slightly without looking, and touch the coin to prove that it is still in your hand,
repeat this with a second and a third volunteer. When you reach the fourth (your secret assistant), they will secretly take
the coin from your palm and says like the others that the coin is still there! Now do several magical moves on the paper
with your left hand, take away the sheet of paper and the coin has disappeared.
FORECASTING COINS
For this trick the year of release of three or four coins on a table are written down on a piece of paper. The coins are then
mixed up and placed in the your pocket. Now without looking, the magician reveals quickly any of the coins, with the exact
date as called out by the audience member!
For this you will need three or four pairs of coins with the same year of release. However, each pair needs to have a
different year of release. Before the performance, x one coin from each pair with paperclips to the hem of your inner-
pocket, placing the coins in sequence of their years. The other three or four coins you leave on the table and one by one
you lift them up and call out the years of release, the audience member must write this down on a piece of paper. After
that, the coins are mixed up and you place them in the inner-pocket of your jacket. The audience member may now read
aloud any of the years written on the paper, and you without hesitation reveal the corresponding coin by removing them
from the paperclips.
MAGICAL MONEY
To prepare this trick you will need two nickels and one quarter. Hold the two nickels upright between the ngertips of your
right thumb and index nger (Images 2 and 3). Wedge the quarter at a 90-degree angle behind the nickels (Image 4).
Show the upright coin to your audience at eye level, so that they cannot see the other two coins, they will only see one
nickel. It is very important that you hold the upright coin exactly in the middle, in front of the other two. Bring your hands
together so that your left palm covers your right. Under the cover of your hand, press the quarter at against both nickels
with your left thumb. Turn the coins once around themselves, so that the quarter is now facing forward. Then give the
rear nickel a quarter-turn more. It should now stand perpendicularly to the two coins in front (Image 7). Now remove your
left hand, taking the quarter coin along. Your audience will see a quarter coin in your left hand and a nickel in your right.
They will be amazed!
THE VANISHING COIN IN A PIECE OF PAPER
The magician holds up a coin in a piece of paper, says the magic words and the coin vanishes!
Take a piece of paper of 7.5 cm x 5 cm and then borrow a coin and place it on the paper. Fold the paper up from the bottom
to cover the coin, but do not let the edge reach the top of the paper. Pick up the paper in your left hand. Fold the right
edge downwards and back onto the coin. Then fold the left edge down and back. Finally fold the top edge down and back
leaving a neat little bag containing the coin. Press the paper down onto the coin, so that the shape of the coin becomes
visible. Then turn the packet over so that the coin can slide secretly into your left hand. Continue to hold the paper as if
it still contains the coin and then transfer it to your right hand. Meanwhile your left hand casually drops the coin into your
pocket. Finally, tear up the paper to show that the coin has vanished.
HOT MONEY
You will need a hat or a cap and some coins for this trick. Put the coins in the hat and then ask a spectator to take a coin
out of the hat and to mark it with a marker (of course you must not look when they are doing so). Ask every member of the
audience to check the coin, passing it from hand to hand. Finally, put the coin back into the hat. With your eyes closed you
will be able to take the marked coin out. The secret is very simple: the coin that went from hand to hand will be warmer
than the others.
THE LIGHT TOUCH
To perform this trick you will need a pencil and a small piece of paper. Place the pencil in your pocket. Ask a spectator to
place a coin under a piece of paper while you have turned your back to them. When they are nished, turn back and say
that you are able to know the value of the coin that is under the piece of paper without lifting the paper and without asking
any questions. Take the pencil out of your pocket, touch the piece of paper to see where the coin is then scratch the pencil
on the coin. The imprint of the coin will appear then you will be able to guess its value.
WE DID IT!
Show a coin to the audience, then put the coin in a box and close it. Then say that you are going to take the coin out of the
box without lifting the lid. It is no sooner said than done! This trick is a little tongue in cheek; you just need to have a sense
of humour. Make a few magical movements over the box with your hands. Then say “It’s done; I’ve taken the coin out of
the box without lifting the lid”, the spectator won’t believe you and one of them will open the box quickly. At this moment,
you put your hand in the box and take out the coin, you didn’t open the cover so you have in fact performed the trick!
