SCIENCE! Since you have
your thumb held over the
straw’s opening, a high level
of air pressure builds up as
soon as the straw starts to
penetrate the apple. That
gives the straw all the
strength it needs.
TIP
If it doesn’t
work with an
apple, try it
with a
potato.
A straw is actually
quite delicate, and it
bends pretty easily. I will
put a spell on this one here
to make it hard as steel.
Be strong

Hold the straw in your fist and
place your thumb over the opening.
Spear the apple with the straw
in one quick move.
As proof,
I’ve brought
along this nice
firm apple.
