Plants need warmth
External conditions are very important when growing plants. In order
to thrive, they need nutrients, as you found out in Experiment 12.
They also need water, warmth, and air. Under the dome, the warmed
air isn't carried away as easily as
outside, which is why they grow
faster there than if they don’t have a
roof over their head. That’s why you
can buy peppers from supermarkets
even in the winter, thanks to large-
scale greenhouses. It would be too
cold in most parts of the country
to grow plants outside during the
winter, but in a greenhouse it is warm
even in winter.
