Since it can survive a long time without food, it

that sounds something like a raucous kind of

laughter. It’s a sound that can be heard echoing

through the Australian eucalyptus forests in the

early morning and evening. The Indigenous

Australians believe that kookaburras laugh to

wake people up so they do not miss the sunrise.

The longest railway line in the world runs

straight across Russia: From Moscow, you can

take the Trans-Siberian Railway 9,288

kilometers east to Vladivostok. Since the trip

takes 144 hours, or six days, there are sleeping

cars and couchettes as well as ordinary train

cars. In addition to the main line (shown in red

in the picture), there are also several connecting

lines.
