About This Manual
This manual is written for system integrators, IT technicians, and knowledgeable end users.
It provides information for the installation and use of the X13SAN series motherboard.
About This Motherboard
The X13SAN motherboard is a 3.5" Single Board Computer (4.01" x 5.75") powered by the
Intel® 12th Generation Core™ i7/i5/i3 or Celeron® mobile processor series. Built on the Intel
7 process for improvements in CPU processing, the Intel 12th Generation mobile processor
series on X13SAN achieves up to 1.07x faster single-thread performance and up to 1.29x
faster multi-thread performance versus Intel 11th Generation Core processors. X13SAN
operates on low power and features a thermal design power (TDP) of up to 15W.
X13SAN also features hardware-enabled AI acceleration, enabling robust AI performance
through int8 quantization. Support of the OpenVINO™ toolkit also delivers optimized
performance while helping developers speed time to market with pre-trained AI models for
common use cases.
X13SAN is equipped with the latest generation graphics core (Intel Iris® Xᵉ/UHD Graphics
for 12th Gen processors) with DirectX 12.1, OpenGL 4.6, OpenCL 3.0, and 8K encoding/
decoding, which delivers up to 2.47x faster graphics performance versus Intel 11th generation
Core processor graphics. X13SAN supports four independent displays with one HDMI 1.4b
port, one HDMI 2.1b port, and two DisplayPort 1.4a from DP Alt Mode Type-C ports.
X13SAN features the latest Intel security & reliability features, including Intel Virtualization
Technology (VT-x/-d), Intel Trusted Execution Technology, and Intel Control-Flow Enforcement
Technology. Additionally, X13SAN with the Intel Core i7 and i5 processors supports the
Intel vPro™ platform for business-class performance, hardware-enhanced security features,
modern remote manageability, and PC eet stability.
X13SAN features a rich I/O interface including dual 2.5G LAN ports, one M.2 M-Key PCIe 4.0
x4 slot in the 2242/2280 form factor, one M.2 E-Key PCIe 3.0 x1/USB 2.0/Intel CNVi slot in
the 2230 form factor, one M.2 B-Key SATA 6Gb/s or PCIe 3.0 x1/USB 3.0/USB 2.0 slot in the
2242/2280 form factor with Nano SIM, one PCIe 4.0 p3-x4 SlimSAS port, four COM ports, four
USB 3.2 ports in Type-C and Type-A ports, and a speaker-out with a 3W amplier. X13SAN
also features onboard TPM 2.0.
X13SAN supports 12-24V DC input power to meet varying embedded system requirements,
such as embedded networking and storage systems. Based on numerous demands from
embedded applications, Supermicro developed an optimized thermal solution for X13SAN,
producing a fanless design on a high performance platform.
