15 Inserting and Removing
the Batteries
15.1 Inserting the Batteries
WARNING
To reduce the risk of personal injury or prop‐
erty damage from fire or electric shock, never
use a malfunctioning, damaged, cracked, leak‐
ing or deformed batteries,
7. Never charge,
use or store the batteries outside the specified
ambient temperature limits, 25.4.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of unintended activation,
never store the batteries in the blower,
21.2.
STIHL recommends using the same size batter‐
ies.
To insert the batteries:

Insert the batteries (1) into the batteries com‐
partment (2,3) until it stops.
The batteries are properly inserted when you
hear an audible click and the batteries are
flush with the top of the housing. In this posi‐
tion, there is electrical contact between the
batteries and the blower.
Since new batteries are not fully charged, STIHL
recommends that you fully charge the batteries
before using them the first time,

15.2 Removing the Batteries
WARNING
To reduce the risk of severe personal injury
from unintended activation, always remove the
batteries before assembling, transporting,
adjusting, cleaning, servicing, maintaining or
storing the blower, and any other time it is not
in use.
WARNING
Use care when ejecting the batteries to pre‐
vent it from falling and causing personal injury
or property damage.
To remove the batteries:
Release the trigger switch.
Position your hand behind the batteries.

Compress the locking levers (1) to eject the
batteries (2) from the battery compartment.
NOTICE
Avoid exposing the batteries to excessive heat
or prolonged periods of direct sunlight. Use or
storage outside the recommended ambient
temperature range can reduce the perform‐
ance of the batteries.
16 Switching the Blower On
and Off
16.1 Switching On
WARNING
Never operate your blower if it is modified,
damaged, improperly adjusted or maintained,
not completely and securely assembled or not
functioning properly,
8.1. To reduce the risk
of personal injury, always wear proper clothing
and protective apparel, including proper eye
protection, when operating your blower,

Before switching on:
Make sure you have a secure and firm footing.
Stand upright.
Always hold and operate the blower with one
hand firmly on the control handle.
