Heat pump operating times for heating and DHW are mainly in
the morning and evening, as these are the times of day when
there is increased demand for heating energy and DHW. It is
precisely at these times, however, that the yield from the photo-
voltaic(PV) system is very low or non-existent, meaning that of-
ten very little of the self-generated solar power is used by the
heat pump.
EMTrend is an optional software extension for the ISG Internet
Service Gateway that automatically increases self-consumption
of photovoltaic energy by compatible heat pumps through fore-
cast-based energy management.
EMTrend uses the electricity meter EMMeter (or the connection
to the SOLARWATT Manager flex and SOLARWATT electricity
meter) to measure the electrical photovoltaic power exported to
and power drawn from the mains at the mains connection point.
Using intelligent energy management of higher temperatures,
surplus energy from the photovoltaic system is stored in the buf-
fer cylinder, DHW cylinder and the building. To prevent ineffi-
cient heat pump operation and unnecessary heat losses, fore-
casts are generated for the yield from the photovoltaic system
and for the building's heat demand. Where possible, the buffer
and DHW cylinder are only heated to higher temperatures to-
wards the end of the day. This utilises the potential of the buffer
and DHW cylinder as a heat store more efficiently and optimises
self-consumption of solar power.
In summer months, heat pump systems with cooling function
are potentially able to limit cooling operation to times when
there is usable surplus from the photovoltaic system.
Depending on the heat pump type and operating mode, the out-
put is affected as follows:
– Either by controlling the output and temperature raising for
the relevant thermal store
– Or exclusively through temperature raising for the relevant
thermal store.
3.1 System requirements
– Internet Service Gateway (ISG web or ISG plus).
NOTICE:The SG Ready contact of the ISG plus cannot be
used while EMTrend is in operation.
– EM Trend software extension
– EMTrend-compatible heat pump

aetsliste_EM_Trend.pdf
– Heat pumps must be in "Automatic mode", "Programmed
mode" or "DHW mode". The operating mode can be selected
via SERVICEWELT on the local network.
– Photovoltaic system with self-consumption
– EMMeter (or Solarwatt Manager flex and compatible Solar-
watt electricity meter) at mains connection point
– Ethernet network cable
– Computer with internet access
– Login and enabled data access for the SERVICEWELT portal
– Sufficient free slots on the home network router for com-
puter, ISG, EMMeter (or SOLARWATT Manager flex)
