Installation
If the PCI Express Card needs to be installed into a dierent size Desktop System, it may be necessary to replace the
pre-installed PCIe Slot Bracket with the included Low-Prole Bracket or Standard Prole bracket, depending on the scenario.
(Optional) Installing the Secondary Bracket
Note: Depending on the system conguration, the Primary Prole Bracket may need to be removed and replaced with the
Secondary Prole Bracket (included).
1. Using a Phillips Head Screwdriver, remove the Bracket Screws (x2) securing the Primary Bracket to the PCIe USB
Card. Set the Bracket Screws aside, as they will be used to attach the Secondary Bracket.
2. Place the PCIe USB Card on top of the Secondary Prole Bracket, ensuring the Screw Holes on both components are
Aligned.
3. Insert the Bracket Screws through the PCIe USB Card and into the Screw Holes on the Low-Prole Bracket.
4. Use a Phillips Head Screwdriver to tighten the Bracket Screws, being careful not to over-tighten them.
Install the PCI Express Card
WARNING!
Static electricity can cause severe damage to PCI Express cards. Ensure proper grounding before opening the computer case or
touching the PCI Express card. Use an Anti-Static Strap when installing any computer component. If an Anti-Static Strap isn’t
available, discharge built-up static electricity by touching a large grounded metal surface for several seconds. Handle the PCI
Express card by its edges, avoiding contact with the gold connectors.
1. Turn o the Computer and any Peripheral Devices connected to it (i.e., Printers, External Hard Drives, etc.).
2. Unplug the Power Cable from the back of the Computer.
3. Disconnect any Peripheral Devices that are connected to the Computer.
4. Remove the Cover from the Computer Case. Consult the documentation that came with the Computer for details about
how to do this safely.
5. Locate an open PCI Express Slot and remove the corresponding Slot Cover Plate from the back of the Computer Case.

Express x4, x8, or x16 slots.
6. Gently insert the PCI Express Card into the open PCI Express Slot and fasten the Bracket to the back of the Computer
Case.
7. (Optional) Connect a SATA Power Cable from the Host Computer’s Power Supply to the SATA Power Connector
located on the rear of the PCIe USB Card.
Note: Using the Sata Power Connector is recommended to ensure sucient power is provided to the card and to each USB
port.
8. Install the Cover back onto the Computer Case.
9. Reconnect the Power Cable to the back of the Computer.
10. Reconnect all of the Peripheral Devices that were disconnected in Step 3.
11. Turn on the Computer and Peripheral Devices.
Download the Driver
Note: The PCIe USB Card should auto-install using native drivers in most major operating systems.
1. Open an Internet Browser and navigate to:
www.StarTech.com/P10Q4C-USB-CARD or www.StarTech.com/P10Q4C-USB-CARD-LP
2. Click the Drivers & Downloads tab.
3. Under Driver(s), download the Driver for the appropriate Operating System.
4. Extract the contents of the Driver Package.
5. Execute the Installer and follow the on-screen instructions to nish installing the Driver.
