• Fertiliser and other garden chemicals contain sub-
stances that can have a severely corrosive eect
on the metal parts. Do not store the device in the
vicinity of these substances.
16. Maintenance
Carry out regular maintenance at the service centre, as
well as a visual and functional check before using the
chainsaw. Incorrect maintenance can lead to severe
property damage and injuries.
Only approved spare parts, as mentioned in this in-
struction manual under Approved cutting sets, may be
used. To do this, contact our customer service.
16.1 Re-tightening the saw chain
The saw chain (6) must not sag, although it should be
possible to pull it 1–2 millimeters away from the guide
rail in the centre of the guide rail.
1. Turn the hand wheel (13) anti-clockwise, su-
ciently that the guide rail (7) can be moved by
hand.
2. Turn the chain tensioning wheel (11) anti-clock-
wise, so that the saw chain (6) is tensioned.
3. Turn the saw chain (6) by hand, to check it runs
freely. It must glide freely in the guide rail (7).
4. Tighten the hand wheel (13) for fastening the
guide rail (7) to the cover.
NOTE
The tension of a new saw chain must be checked after
a few minutes in operation, and adjusted if necessary.
To do so switch the device o, remove the battery and
apply the chain brake.
16.2 Clean guide rail oil guide groove
1. Remove the guide rail (7).
2. Clean the oil guide groove of dirt with a suitable
tool. Use the plastic spatula for this. Do not use
steel tools!
3. Attach the guide rail (7) again.
16.3 Sharpening the saw chain
Eective work with the cordless chainsaw saw is only
possible if the saw chain is in good condition and
sharp. This also reduces the risk of kick-back.
Special tools are required to sharpen the saw chain;
these ensure that the chain cutting edges are sharp-
ened at the correct angle and to the correct depth.
• Keep protective devices, air vents and the engine
housing as free of dust and dirt as possible. Rub
the device clean with a clean cloth or blow it o with
compressed air at low pressure.
• We recommend that you clean the device directly
after every use.
• Use a damp cloth and a soft brush to clean the de-
vice. Do not use any cleaning products or solvents;
they could attack the plastic parts of the device.
Make sure that no water can penetrate the device in-
terior. Water penetrating an electric device increas-
es the risk of an electric shock.
• Take o the chain cover and then remove deposits
on the guide rail, saw chain, chain wheel and chain
cover with a soft brush.
14. Transport
• Always use the guide rail protective cover (5) when
transporting.
• Switch o the chainsaw before any transport, even
over short distances. Secure the machine against
tipping over during transport (including in vehicles)
to prevent damage or injury.
• Activate the chain brake.
• Carry the device only by the bow-type handle (10). In
doing so, the guide rail (7) points backwards, away
from your body.
15. Storage
• Store the device and its accessories in a dark, dry
and frost-free place that is inaccessible to children.
The optimum storage temperature lies between 5
and 30 ˚C.
• Store the device in its original packaging. Cover the
device to protect it from dust or moisture. Store the
operating manual with the device.
• Store the battery and device separately.
• Recharge the battery before storage in winter.
• In case of longer breaks between use, always drain
the chain lubricating oil from the device.
• Always use the guide rail protective cover (5) when
storing the device.
• Keep the device and in particular plastic compo-
nents away from brake uids, petrol, petroleum
products, penetrating oils etc. They contain chem-
ical substances which can damage or destroy the
plastic components of the device.
