Safety Instructions / Fitting the Bicycle on the Tow Hitch
WARNING
Tarpaulins increase the air resistance.
They can become detached and fly
around, which can cause serious
accidents.
Injury to people or damage to property
due to tarpaulins.
• Do not use tarpaulins.
WARNING
Driving on rough terrain with the bicycle
carrier fitted can cause the carrier to
break off.
Injury to people or damage to property
due to the bicycle carrier breaking off.
• Do not use the bicycle carrier on rough
terrain.
ATTENTION
The hatch could hit the bicycle carrier and
be damaged.
Damage to property due to hatch lid
opening.
• Switch off electric hatch lids and
operate manually.
• Fold down the bicycle carrier before
opening the hatch.
ATTENTION
The carrier or bicycles could be damaged
if they are directly adjacent to the exhaust
outlet.
Damage to property due to hot exhaust
gases.
• Use an exhaust embellisher if
necessary.
ATTENTION
Carrier reduces vehicles departure angle.
Damage to vehicle or carrier. Avoid steep
driveways and or parking lot exits.
Fitting and Use
FITTING THE BICYCLE CARRIER ON THE TOW HITCH
• Park your vehicle on a flat surface.
• Apply the parking break.
WARNING
Damage to the carrier, e.g. due to bent
parts, cracks or scratches, precludes safe
functioning of the carrier.
Injury to people or damage to property
due to damaged bicycle carrier.
• Do not fit the bicycle carrier if there is
any damage.
• Proceed as described in the chapter
on Maintenance.
