HotShot MD

MAKING CONNECTIONS

As with all audio systems, it is good practice to turn volume levels down or

mute any associated channels on your mixers before making connections

to the HotShot MD. The HotShot MD utilizes standard XLR connections

for the input and outputs, and the input connector features a locking tab to

prevent against accidental disconnection during a performance.

Begin by connecting your dynamic microphone to the input of the HotShot

MD using an XLR cable, and placing the switcher in a position that is easy

for the vocalist to access. Note that the HotShot MD is not compatible

with condenser microphones that need phantom power (if you require a

condenser mic switcher, we recommend the Radial HotShot 48V).

Output-A will typically be connected to the channel on the PA system

that feeds the audience. The microphone signal will automatically pass

through to this output when no footswitches are depressed on the

HotShot MD. You can use XLR cables of up to 300 feet in length when

connecting from any output on the HotShot MD.

Output-B is designed to feed a secondary destination. Usually this would

connect to a channel on a mixer that feeds the band’s in-ear monitors or

stage wedge speakers, allowing the vocalist to press the B footswitch and

instantly speak to the band.

Output-C reroutes the microphone to a third destination, allowing for

direct communication with stage technicians or monitor engineers.

Pressing the C footswitch activates this channel, and it can be pressed at

the same time as the B footswitch to speak to both destinations at once.

Alternatively, you can leave output-C disconnected, which will allow the

C footswitch to function as a cough mute.
