Modbus functionality The Modbus TCP communication protocol can be used via the assigned network adapter
on the PC. In this case, the Software PLC can be used as a Modbus client. The Software
PLC can be used as a Modbus server with the aid of function blocks.
Local I/Os
(VL BPC MINI only)
Local digital I/Os which are integrated on the Valueline industrial PC (VL BPC MINI) are
supported by the Software PLC.
Status monitor of the
Software PLC
The status monitor of the Software PLC is displayed as an icon in the information area of the
Windows taskbar. The status monitor displays the operating states of the Software PLC
(see Section “Status monitor of the Software PLC” on page 32).
Ethernet interfaces of the
Software PLC
A network adapter on the PC is assigned to the Software PLC for operation. The Ethernet
adapter provides the Software PLC with an interface for external communication via
Ethernet. This interface is available to the Software PLC following installation and
assignment. In the example below, the PC has two Ethernet interfaces.
