Figure 11-9 shows the additional grounding for a bus coupler using the example of
the IL PB BK DI8 DO4-PAC bus coupler. Connect the additional grounding to your
device according to the terminal-specific documentation.
Inline Block IO 1 The modules have an FE spring (metal clip) on the bottom of the electronics base.
This spring establishes an electrical connection to the DIN rail. Use grounding termi-
nals to connect the DIN rail to protective ground. The modules are grounded when
they are snapped onto the DIN rail.
2 Phoenix Contact also recommends grounding the Inline Block IO module via the
FE terminal point of the corresponding connector to ensure reliable functional
grounding even if the DIN rail is dirty or the metal clip is damaged (see terminal-spe-
cific data sheet).
