B 2.6 STEP 7 – Device description file (GSDML)

Should you need to swap the device description file of the safe PROFINET gateway in

STEP 7, e.g., in the event of device replacement, the following points must be observed:

– Only use a device description file that is approved for the device version used.

– Avoid making changes to the device description file. They are not permitted.

B 2.7 STEP 7 – Error message when exceeding the maximum

permissible amount of PROFINET IO user data

Depending on the STEP 7 version used in your application, it is possible that the maximum

permissible configuration of PROFINET IO user data is not supported for the FL PN/

PN SDIO-2TX/2TX safe PROFINET gateway STEP 7 (see Table 2-1 on page 27). If such

an error message is displayed, use the smaller module in slot 3.

B 3 Behavior of the device during the processing of

zero telegrams

The safe FL PN/PN SDIO-2TX/2TX PROFINET gateway transmits zero values as

substitute values to the safe PROFINET controller 2, when it receives zero telegrams from

the safe PROFINET controller 1.

In the safe PROFINET controller 2, the zero values can no longer be identified as substitute

values.

Assuming that you have already planned system-wide measures for preventing an

unintentional machine startup to complete the safety chains, and have implemented them

in both PROFINET systems, we recommend using the following procedure to identify

potentially occurring zero telegrams, which will allow you to react by using your application.

• In the safe PROFINET controller 1, set one bit constantly to a value of “1”.

• Check this bit in the safe PROFINET controller 2.

• If the value of the bit is “0”, open safety chain a.

• Check this bit in the safe PROFINET controller 1.
