Passivation If the safety module detects an error, it switches the affected channel or all channels of the

module to the safe state; the channels are then passivated. The detected errors are

indicated at the safe controller.

For a safe input module when passivation is enabled, instead of the process values present

at the safe inputs, substitute values (0) are provided for the safety program.

For a safe output module when passivation is enabled, instead of the output values provided

by the safety program, substitute values (0) are transferred to the safe outputs.

PROFIsafe Safety-related bus profile based on PROFIBUS DP or PROFINET. It defines the

communication between a safety program and the safe I/O device in a safe system.

PROFIsafe address Each safe module has a PROFIsafe address. This address must be set on the safety

module via DIP switches and then configured in the configuration tool for the safe controller

used.

Monitoring time for safety-related communication between the safe PROFINET controller

(SPNS) and safe I/O devices.

This time is parameterized in the F_WD_Time F-Parameter.
