User Manual for Ceramic Activated Carbon Filters
for Domestic Cooker Hoods
1. Introduction
Ceramic activated carbon filters are essential
components for cooker hoods operating in recirculation
or air purification mode. These filters remove odors,
particles, and contaminants, improving air quality in your
home. This manual will guide you on the use, care,
maintenance, and regeneration of these filters to
maximize their durability and efficiency. Always refer to
your cooker hood manufacturer’s manual for any
additional specific recommendations.
2. Use of the Ceramic Activated Carbon Filter
• Installation:
o Ensure that the filter is compatible with your cooker
hood. Refer to the manufacturer's manual.
o Make sure the cooker hood is switched off before
installing the filter.
o Place the filter in the designated compartment and
ensure it is securely attached.
• Operation:
o Use the cooker hood in recirculation mode.
o Adjust the power setting according to your cooking
activity (low for simmering, high for frying).
o Avoid exposing the filter to high concentrations of
grease without using a metal or grease filter first.
3. Durability of the Ceramic Activated Carbon Filter
• Lifespan:
o Under normal conditions, the filter lasts between 2
to 3 years, depending on the type of cooking.
o Factors such as cooking fatty or heavily spiced
dishes may reduce its effectiveness over time.
• Signs of Replacement or Regeneration:
o Reduced ability to eliminate odors.
o Color change in the filter, indicating saturation.
4. Maintenance and Regeneration
• What is regeneration?
Regeneration reactivates the activated carbon in
the filter by removing trapped particles and
compounds.
• Regeneration Method:
o Remove the filter from the cooker hood.
o Preheat a conventional oven to 120°C.
o Place the filter in the oven for 60 minutes, ensuring
it is positioned horizontally.
o Warning! Do not place the filters on the oven base;
use a tray at an intermediate height.
o Allow the filter to cool completely before reinstalling
it.
• Frequency:
o Inspect the filter whenever your cooker hood
indicates it or every 3 months (150 hours) to check
for saturation or residue buildup
o This process should be performed at least once
every 12 months, depending on usage intensity.
• Cleaning:
o Do not wash the filter with water. The ceramic and
activated carbon should not come into contact with
liquids, as this may damage their structure.
o Clean the filter compartment with a dry cloth to
remove accumulated dust or grease.
o Before installing the activated carbon filter, ensure
that the grease filter is clean to prevent grease
particles from clogging the ceramic filter.
5. Recommendations to Extend the Life of the
Ceramic Activated Carbon Filter
• Avoid frying food uncovered or at excessive power
levels if not necessary.
• Regularly clean the grease filter to prevent
premature saturation of the ceramic filter.
• Do not store the filter in humid environments when
not in use.
6. Safety Precautions
• Do not touch the filter immediately after
regeneration; it will be very hot.
• Avoid using chemicals or detergents to clean it.
• If the filter breaks, handle the fragments carefully
to prevent cuts.
7.End of Life of the Ceramic Activated Carbon Filter
When the filter reaches the end of its lifespan and can
no longer be regenerated:
• Do not dispose of it with regular household
waste, as some compounds may require special
treatment.
• Follow local regulations for waste disposal. For
more information on treatment, recovery, and
recycling of this product, contact local authorities,
household waste collection services, or the retailer
where you purchased the product.
