a) Turn the STOP SWITCH clockwise to the "1" (ON) position (Fig-2).
b) Open the fuel cock (Fig-3).
c) Move the speed control lever to 1/3 to 1/2 of the way toward the high-speed position (Fig-4).
d) Adjust the choke lever based on the engine and ambient temperature:
If the engine is cold or the ambient temperature is low, fully close the choke lever.
If the engine is warm or the ambient temperature is high, open the choke lever halfway or
fully (Fig-5).
e) Pull the starter handle slowly until resistance is felt (compression point), then return the handle
to its original position and pull swiftly.
Do not pull the rope all the way out.
After the engine starts, allow the starter handle to return to its original position while still
holding it.

Turn the throttle lever to the START position (open by about 30 degrees) (Fig-6).
